Narrow your list of colleges to anywhere between 5-10

Ask your counselor if these colleges fit your career plans, and ask for resources/forms detailing them

Create a calendar for any of the following college activities:
- Tests required to be taken, and fees/due dates of them
- College application due dates
- Required financial aid form deadlines
- Any required recommendations/transcripts
- Cousino's application processing deadlines

If you cannot afford applications/test fees, ask your counselor for a fee waiver

Retake the SAT again for a potentially higher score
- Make sure your SAT scores are sent to the narrowed-down colleges you want

Get your FAFSA application done as early as possible! October 1st, 2021 is the earliest you can file the FAFSA

Complete the CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE application online to determine eligibility for aid money
- Website to fill the application can be found here

Early decision/action/rolling admission applications should be prepared for early
- They are usually sent between November 1st-15th, 2021

Ask teachers & counselor for recommendations of your academic record and extracurricular activities
- Make sure these recommendations are stamped and addressed correctly with college forms

If essays are required, start writing early drafts and ask family/teachers for help
- IMPORTANT: If you are applying for early decision college, finish your essays ASAP, as they are due much earlier!

Send your transcripts via Parchment if counselor are not available/recommend otherwise

Winter (December–February)

Photocopy your essays and applications! These should be kept in a safe area to prevent loss of important information
- If the college wants to see second-semester grades, make sure to copy them too

Make sure all appropriate grade forms are sent to your counselor for any colleges you select
​

Have your high school send grade transcripts to colleges-of-your-choice
- This is sent by mail separately if done online

Spring (March–May)

Once you receive responses from your colleges, make your final decision

Verify your financial aid before you make any college budget decisions

Send your final transcripts to your college and meet housing deadlines

Complete your AP tests before Summer
